(EMPA) - Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Testing and Research - Section High Performance Ceramics is a national centre of competence for ceramic materials including their process technology with a more than 10 years background in applied R&D on SOFCs. The core competence comprises fabrication and processing of ceramic materials including structural, mechanical, chemical and functional characterisation. 

EMPA has been and is still co-ordinating national SOFC projects related to materials and cell development for SOFCs. EMPA is also obliged to promote the technology transfer between R&D, industry (especially SMEs) for which a Knowledge Exchange Centre (EMPA Academie) has been established. 

In this project EMPA will closely collaborate with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPF-L) and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH-Z). The joint interests of EMPA and its partners cover materials and technology development from fundamentals to component and cell fabrication and system analysis.
