FORTH

Institute of Chemical Engineering and High Temperature Chemical Processes (FORTH)

The Institute of Chemical Engineering and High Temperature Chemical Processes (FORTH) is an academic independent institution which currently comprises 14 full time researchers and 24 collaborating faculty members. It is incorporated into the structure of the Foundation of Research and Technology Hellas (FORTH).

In its 18 years of operation ICE/HT has been developed into a world leading centre for the advancement of high quality scientific knowledge in the fields of material science, surface science, environmental pollution, catalysis and electrocatalysis, applied mathematics and in the computer aided design and simulation of new materials and processes. Many research activities are performed in close collaboration with several departments of the University of Patras.

The Greek team consists of Dr S.G. Neophytides (Group Leader), Prof. S. Bebelis, Prof. C.G. Vayenas, Prof. P. Nikolopoulos and Dr. T. Ioannides and is considered pioneer in the study and modification of catalytic properties of electrodes in solid oxide fuel cells. Furthermore members of the Greek team have extended experience in modelling of SOFCs. The expertise of the Greek team is proved by the large number of relevant publications and patents, as well as by the participation in many European Union (JOULE, SCIENCE , INTAS, INCO and EESD) and Greek State projects.

The REAL-SOFC-Project is supported by the European Commision as part of FP6 energy programme, Contract No. SES5-CT-2003-502612Imprint
