Imperial College (Imperial)

The Imperial College (Imperial) is the leading higher educational establishment in the UK for teaching and research in engineering subjects. With a full time staff of about 3500 the college has an annual turnover of approximately 55 MECU. Imperial College is a long-established leading university in SOFC research; originally under the leadership of Professor B.C.H. Steele and now co-ordinated within the Centre for Ceramic Ion-Conducting Membranes (CICM). This now involves 11 academic staff from the Departments of Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials and Mechanical Engineering. Its current activities involve approximately 11 academic staff, 10 postdoctoral research associates and 10 postgraduate students. They are engaged in projects covering: electrode and electrolyte development; electrochemical performance of components and cells; fuel processing; and fabrication and mechanical performance of components.
