The faculty of Engineering was established in 1870 and introduced programs in Chemical, Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering in 1930. New programs were introduced after 1991 including Environmental Engineering, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Management Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, and Structural Engineering.
Two Departments of the Faculty are involved in this project: DiMSET and DICheP.The Department of Machinery, Energy Systems and Transportation (DiMSET) will carry out the project proposed here. This department focuses on Energy Systems, Turbomachinery, and Internal Combustion, with particular emphasis on thermodynamics, thermo-economics, environmental impact analysis and optimisation of Advanced Energy Systems.
The present project will be carried out by the Thermochemical Power Group (TPG) where nine permanent staff are involved. The group has interests and expertise in thermoeconomic analysis and optimisation of advanced energy systems including CHP plant optimum design and management, integration of conventional power conversion systems including High Temperature Fuel Cells. TPG is carrying out IM-SOFC-GT FP-V project on SOFC-Hybrids, and is starting a new project named PIP-SOFC always in the FP-V.
